I figured the best way of starting this habit again is admitting a hidden truth that I've been learning about myself over the past couple of years. I can't think of a more apporpriate way of starting this habit again than by looking inward. Yes, eventually I'm going to get around to creating an About Me page.
I'm a software architect. So that means I spend the majority of my time writing English instead of code. Now, I don't have experience with very large teams of programmers. But anecotely, that's been making me an outsider. I've been singled out very often for documentation or spec writing specifically because I'm very good at communicating an idea. Yes, thank you Joel on Software!
I've been spending a lot of time writing about work for work so that our team can work. And I've been doing it such a long time, I've been forgetting about what it's like to write for myself. That's why I'm doing this blog again--even though my record for doing such is much less than stellar. And the practice will hopefully make me a better writer in the end.
Yes, I love to write. And it's not solely in service of a career or a livelihood. It's part of the creative experience. It's part of who I am. So I can't wait to see where this takes me.
